Early Years Home Learning

Home learning in Reception may change throughout the year, depending on the children’s experiences and skills.
Reading-
Children will bring home a sharing book each week. This will be changed on a Monday.
Children will also be expected to practice their reading skills twice each week, using the book they have read in class. This will develop their decoding, fluency, prosody and comprehension skills.
For those weeks when new tricky words have been taught in phonics, these will be sent home to learn.
Maths
Children will be expected to use the White Rose Maths App, at least twice a week.
Writing
A weekend diary will be sent home once the children are settled. This is used to share your experiences at home so we can talk about these in class. Once children can write, they will be expected to write labels or sentences, rather than the news being scribed by an adult.
Topic
On occasions, a topic/themed activity may be set to support learning in class.
